What You Practise in This Exercise
In this exercise you correct full paragraphs about everyday student life. You practise capitalizing:
- The first word of every sentence and the pronoun I
- People and titles before names: Dr. Smith, Professor Brown, Tom, Emma, Sarah, J.K. Rowling, Taylor Swift
- Places, landmarks and institutions: London University, New York, Central Park, the Statue of Liberty, the British Museum, Spain, Barcelona, the United Nations
- Days and holidays: Monday, Saturday, Christmas
- Languages and nationalities: English, Spanish, Italian
- Titles of books and films: Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, The Lion King
You also need to decide which words stay lowercase, such as school subjects (history) and common nouns (library, park, cinema, basketball).
